Last night in the NBA…
The likely MVP of the league gave it a decent effort, but at the end of the day he is on his way to summer vacation as the Rockets finished off the Thunder in 5 games, 105-99. In his typical performance, Westbrook posted up the numbers but it wasn’t enough to get the win nor win a playoff series and the Rockets move in with relative ease.
San Antonio captured the pivotal Game 5 at home against the Grizzlies 116-103 and they will most certainly put forth a monumental effort back in Memphis in hopes of taking down this first round Western Conference in six games. Grizzlies made a decent run at it in the latter portion of the 3rd quarter and then into the 4th, but when the dust settled the Spurs proved too potent on this night and walked away double digit winners.
If there was a surprise on the night it came at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as the Jazz in festive green uniforms reminiscent of a St Patrick’s Day parade procession came into town and sent the fans home green with envy because Utah made clutch baskets down the stretch of a 96-92 win. Clippers now face elimination on the road and at best will bring the series back to LA if they are able to steal a win in Game 6.
The NHL playoffs reconvene tonight with two games… the St Louis Blues host the Predators in one of the tilts while the other match up sees the Oilers travels to the city which houses Walt Disney’s grandest idea in search of a Game 1 road win over the Ducks. Both of these series appear to be solid match ups on paper and considering the level of play the teams came with in the opening round, I expect nothing less than high quality hockey.
Full card of MLB action on the rotation as well in what is a superb night of sports watching entertainment.
Boston has won 16 of 18 Porcello home starts dating back to the start of the 2016 season and the last home effort from him was rather pathetic in a Red Sox loss. Boston hosts the Yankees tonight and Porcello will be opposed by Severino for the Bronx Bombers. Free play for the Wednesday action is to back Boston in a Porcello home start.
BOSTON PORCELLO -117
